Did You Notice Something Out of Place in this Picture?

Here's a hint; unlike the original Fiat Cinquecento produced from 1957 to 1975, which sported a two-cylinder, air-cooled engine positioned at the rear end of the car turning the wheels right below it, its spiritual successor, the Nuova 500 of the 21st century, features a traditional layout with the engine mounted up front driving the front wheels.

Well, as the crew from Jalopnik eloquently put it on their posting, "someone is living in the past"…

Mom Style: 'The Motherhood' feat. Fiat 500L Music Commercial is Pure Genius

Forget about South Korean rapper PSY and his hugely successful Gangnam Style music video; there's a new tune on the block that might just capture your attention.

With so many ads coming our way, most of the times we just watch a few seconds and then fast forward to the end, but that never happened with Fiat UK's new, full length music clip / commercial for the soon to be launched 500L small MPV.

Panda Monster Truck was Built by Fiat on a Jeep Floor to Star in a New TV Spot [w/Video]

Earlier this month, yourcars-007 reader Tommaso A. shared with us a handful of pictures and a video of a monster truck version of the latest Fiat Panda 4x4 that he spotted in Italy. At the time, we had no information regarding the build, but Fiat has now shed some light to the project.

As it turns out, the monster Panda prototype was created by Fiat itself in collaboration with Mercurio Cinematografica, set designer Andrea Faini and the Fabio Gementi Workshop, for an upcoming television spot that will air in Europe in the beginning of 2013.

Marchionne Chooses U.S. Soil to Get Back at Germans by Offering Discounts to VW Owners

Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne has accused the VW Group of taking advantage of its overseas profits to undercut its rivals in the European market and, thus, create a “bloodbath” for their sales.

Despite VW calling for his resignation as president of the ACEA, the European Auto Manufacturers’ Association, they subsequently made up, with VW CEO Martin Winterkorn and Marchionne settling the issue during the Paris Auto Show.

Nissan Says “Look Who’s Talking” After Fiat Implied that the Leaf is a Visual Pollution

It seems that “green” vehicles are the new field of confrontation between big automotive groups. After Ford attacked Toyota’s Prius claiming it’s inferior to the Blue Oval’s C-MAX Energi, Nissan and Fiat got into a fight about their EVs' designs.

Before the launch of the all-electric 500e at last week’s LA Auto Show, head of Fiat product marketing Matt Davis told Bloomberg News: “Let’s be honest, ugliness is probably one of the worst forms of pollution. The Fiat 500e proves that you do not have to give up on good looks to deliver an electric car.”

Fiat 500c Abarth's New Topless Ad with Catrinel Menghia is Wickedly Cheeky

If there's one thing Fiat has proven to do well in North America, is capture viewers' attention with its ads - well, at least after it learned its lesson with those out of touch commercials starring Jenifer Lopez.

Exactly a year after the Italians launched the 500 Abarth “Seduction” spot with supermodel Catrinel Menghia at the 2011 LA Auto Show, at the same event this year, Fiat released a new commercial for its 500c Abarth, which is the partially open-top version of the series.

Someone Created a Monster Out of a New 2013 Fiat Panda 4x4

We haven't had the opportunity to drive the new 2013 Fiat Panda 4x4, yet – we have, however, tried out the previous generation model and it was surprisingly capable off the road, but something tells us that this here custom project discovered by yourcars-007 reader Tommaso in Italy, is way, way better.

"Yesterday I saw this Fiat. I don't know what is it, but I like it so much!" Tomasso told us. "It's a Panda with really big wheels. It's strange because it seems a brand new one! Have you ever seen something like this? Do you know something about?"

Open Up and Say… Abarth: Fiat 500C’s Spicier 160HP Version Debuts in LA

The three-door 500 Abarth hatchback that is already available in the U.S. will be joined by its open-top sibling in early 2013.

Just like the hatch, the 500C Abarth that made its North American debut today at the LA Auto Show is powered by a turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder. Its 160HP and 155 lb-ft (210), which rise to 170 lb-ft (230 Nm) in overboost mode are enough to accelerate the sporty city car from a standstill to 60 mph (96 km/h) “in the low seven-second range”, in Fiat’s own words.

2014 Fiat 500e is a “Retro-Futuristic”, All-Electric Version of the Chic Italian City Car

The battery-powered iteration of Fiat’s 500 premium city car is finally here – and by here we mean the LA Auto Show, where it will make its world premiere and the state of California, where it will initially go on sale.

The 500e features a number of changes compared to its internal-combustion siblings. For example, its new bodywork has been shaped in the wind tunnel, resulting in a 13 percent reduction in drag thanks to improvements like the dot matrix front fascia, the restyled side sills, side mirrors, rear spoiler, flush-fitting 15-inch wheels and the underbody panels.

New 500L Minivan and 500L Trekking Expand Fiat's Offerings in North America

At the Los Angeles Auto Show, Fiat will hold the world premiere of its all-new 500L Trekking, which is a crossover-flavored version of the 500L small minivan that is already on sale in Europe, but is making its North American debut today ahead of a launch next year.

The 500L is a five-door sub-compact minivan with seating for five and looks that borrow styling cues from the smaller 500 city car, though, we'll leave it to you to decide if Fiat's cosmetic approach is successful.

Fiat to Stop Production of Punto Supermini in December and January

With the European new car-market as a whole dropping 7.8 percent from January to October and Fiat's traditional markets such as Italy (-19.7%), Spain (-11.9%), Greece (-39.9%) and Portugal (-38.3%) recording double-digit declines, the Italian carmaker is feeling the pressure more than any other automaker in the region.

So it doesn't come to much of a surprise that Fiat plans to halt production of the Punto supermini at its Melfi plant in southern Italy.

Marchionne Refutes Bloomberg Report on Fiat, Peugeot and Opel Tie-up

On Tuesday, we ran a story based on a report by Bloomberg News that Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne has been talking to PSA Peugeot Citroen and Opel executives about the three carmakers merging into a single entity. Today, however, Marchionne refuted the report describing it to Automotive Europe as “bizarre”.

The Fiat-Chrysler CEO admitted that he had been talking with GM and PSA CEOs Dan Akerson and Philippe Varin, respectively, but he stressed that the discussions were misinterpreted by the report.

Once More: Marchionne Wants to Merge with Peugeot and Opel, Outgun VW in Europe

All mainstream European carmakers are, to a higher or lower degree, facing problems due to the debt crisis that’s storming the continent.

Ford has started closing down plants, Opel and Peugeot are burning cash each day for the past eight months while they try to figure out how to work on their partnership and, as for Fiat… well, thank God that Chrysler is profitable.

The sole survivor in this mess seems to be the VW Group that’s still very profitable, much to the annoyance of its rivals and especially Marchionne who accused Wolfsburg of not playing by the book. However, even the mighty VW has been forced to trim its estimates, as the crisis begins to knock on Germany’s door.

O Say Can You Read: Romney Says Jeep will Shift All of its Production to China

There is nothing wrong with flying the Stars and Stripes during an election year; after all, in a democracy, people get to hear all sides and then decide whom they will vote for.

Unless, of course, your argument is based on a wrong assumption. Even worse if you make a statement in front of a wide audience based on misinterpreting a news report…

Mitt Romney, the Republicans’ 2012 presidential candidate, told an Ohio crowd last Thursday night that Jeep is considering moving all of its production to China.
