New Viper Loses to Corvette ZR1 in MT Test, SRT Boss Tweets His Frustration

The current, sixth-generation Corvette is about to be replaced as its all-new successor is just around the corner, being already teased by GM itself and due to break cover at the upcoming Detroit Motor Show next month. It’s about time, too, as the C6 has been around since 2005.

As it’s getting ready to exit the stage, though, another player comes charging in. In fact, it’s the only other car from Detroit that can lay claim to be an American supercar: the all-new SRT Viper.

It would be unfair to the ‘Vette to even think about pitting them against each other, wouldn’t you agree?

2014 Corvette C7 Shows its Nose on GM Service Manual

While Chevrolet was releasing the third and in our opinion, less interesting of the…rather tedious video trailers for its upcoming Corvette C7, GM allegedly sent scoop photographer Chris Doane this image from a service manual for the "Front brake cooling deflector kit installation", which he then posted on his Facebook page.

The drawings show the front end of the new 2014 Corvette, which features more prominent and larger headlamps than the current model along with a distinct hood scoop(s) and the front fender air outlet.

Third 2014 Corvette C7 Trailer Shows Seats, Carbon Trim, Not Much Else

There's no need to explain why we're getting impatient for the full reveal of the upcoming 2014 Corvette C7, and to be honest, Chevrolet isn't really helping with its video trailers, the third of which was released online today.

After the first trailer that talked about the seventh generation Corvette's body and aerodynamics and the second one called 'Calibration' in which we saw the sports car's digital instrument cluster, the third episode is named 'Craft' and it tells us about the upscale materials and craftsmanship that goes into the creation of its new interior…again, without really showing anything.

Why is This Man Freaking Out Screaming "Kill Me" and "Sprechen Sie Deutsch"? [NSFW]

Just so you don't start thinking that Russia is the only country in the world where crazy things happen on the road, here's a bizarre incident that took place in Rochester, Michigan.

For the record, we first stumbled upon a version of the video uploaded on YouTube today, but upon further research, we discovered an older edition uploaded by a user nicknamed "onetwodo2001" in April of 2011, which we believe to be the original (if we're wrong, send us a message).

The driver with the camera slows down when he sees a white Cadillac DTS that had exited the road at the point where a black Corvette had pulled (?) over.

Hennessey Shows us Just How Fast the 1,244hp Venom GT is with New Videos

Shoehorning a 638hp Corvette ZR1-sourced, 6.2-liter supercharged LS9 V8 into a lightweight Lotus Elise is in itself, insane, but choosing to swap the stock supercharger for twin ball bearing turbochargers that push output to 1,244 horsepower takes craziness to a completely different level.

The car featuring this mind-blowing setup is Hennessey Performance's Venom GT and it's as fast as its specifications suggest.

Latest 2014 Corvette C7 Video Reveals New Digital Gauge

The painstakingly slow teasing of the Corvette C7 continues with one more artsy trailer, this one talking about the calibration of the car, but without really saying anything…

However, what this video does give us is our first glimpse at the next Corvette's digital gauge that occupies the center and the right side of the instrument panel incorporating the revolution-counter that goes up to 7,000 rpm and a central status screen depicting the outline of the car.

You Can Now Drive the New 2014 Corvette C7 on Gran Turismo 5!

A couple of weeks ago, you may remember us telling you about a camouflaged 2014 Corvette C7 prototype that appeared in a couple of demo "screen saver" sessions on Sony's Gran Turismo 5 (GT5) racing game.

As it turns out, there's more to the appearance of the upcoming Corvette in GT5, as today, at the Los Angeles Auto Show, GM announced that starting from today, players of the game can download and –wait for it- drive the C7 Test Prototype!

The Detroit carmaker worked in collaboration with Polyphony Digital, the developer of the Gran Turismo franchise, to create the virtual Corvette C7 prototype.

GM pointed out that "careful attention was paid to the tiniest details from the creases and wrinkles in the soft camouflage used to disguise the new design to specific driving characteristics that are currently being tuned and refined ahead of the vehicle’s official debut", which will take place at the Detroit motor show in January,

See Anything Wrong with this Picture? Come on, Look Closer…

We're going to assume that you won't have a problem taking your sweet time to find out what's wrong with the snapshot from Extreme Racing's video of Playboy Model Jesse Preston riding a Ferrari 458 Italia during a recent drift event in Las Vegas.

But to answer the question we posed, it's all about the positioning of the seatbelt and the use of a safety helmet, as pointed out by several YouTube commentators including one who goes by the alias "TheWereBot", who wrote:

It's going to be a painfully long wait for Corvette and car enthusiasts alike until Chevrolet pulls the covers off the seventh generation of America's most famous sports car series on Sunday, January 13, 2013.

GM is making sure we don’t forget about it with a steady release of bits and pieces of information and imagery that continues today with some details about the C7's aerodynamic properties and the new Gen 5 small block V8 that will power the base models.

New 2014 Corvette C7 Video Trailer Shows Early Design Prototypes

There's a new trailer out about the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 named "Conception", with this one revolving around the design philosophy of GM's forthcoming sports car that will be fully revealed at the 2013 Detroit auto Show on Sunday evening, January 13.

Kirk Bennion, exterior design manager of the C7 is featured in Chevy's short clip, and this is what he says: "Performance cars are definitely all about form follows function. But I would say beautiful form follows performance driven function."

New 2014 Corvette C7 Makes Surprise Appearance in Gran Turismo 5 Demo

There's nothing new about automakers jumping in the bed with digital game developers, but we have to say that we were surprised to learn that the upcoming, seventh generation of the Corvette popped up in a couple of demo "screen saver" session in Sony's Gran Turismo 5 (GT5) racing game.

The Corvette C7's appearance in GT5 was not only confirmed, but also filmed by at least separate three players from the GTPlanet forums, who shared their videos on YouTube.

Volvette V70 Police Car is Here to Serve Some Crazy Donuts

Volvo station wagons have always been some of the most understated and widely misunderstood cars in the market, which ultimately makes them the ideal candidates for insane sleeper (or Q) cars.

As clearly hinted by its name, the Volvette featured here is a V70 estate that does away with its factory Volvo engine to adopt an American heart and drivetrain from an early 2000s Corvette C5 Z06.

Master Shift Adds Paddle Shifters, Keeps Clutch Pedal on Corvette C6 with Manual Gearbox

If you think that paddle shifters are a recent innovation, you might want to reconsider: the first-ever application was on the Bollée Type F Torpédo a century ago in 191, and that car is on display at the Le Mans circuit museum.

In the following years many manufacturers, such as Chrysler, Citroen, NSU and Mercedes-Benz, to name but a few, tried to do away with the clutch, torque converter and/or gear level but electronics were still a long way from reaching maturity and the companies didn't persist with the concept.

Badass Chevrolet Matiz Track Racer with Corvette Z06 7.0-liter V8 up for Sale

This is one Chevrolet Matiz you surely won't be making any fun of; and how could you after you learn that engineers somehow squeezed a massive Corvette Z06-sourced 7.0-liter V8 that develops anywhere from 505 to 550-horses (depending on who you ask) into its miniscule body.

We remember showing you a V8-powered Matiz racecar concept back in early 2009 (see the videos after the break) , and unless someone else had the same crazy idea, we believe that this car found for sale on eBay Germany by yourcars-007 reader "CobraV8" is the same one with the addition of a racing livery.

Meet the 2014 Corvette's All-New 6.2L Small Block V8, Makes 450Hp and Returns +26mpg HWY

The all-new, seventh generation Corvette is one of the most talked-about sports cars of the year, but strangely enough, also one of the few that has managed to keep most of its secrets under wraps.

Starting with the new Vette logo and a not-too-revealing (to say the least) video, we thought that General Motors would embark on a long journey of teasing us about the next iteration of the iconic supercar without telling us much about it until its debut on January's Detroit Motor Show.

Well, a substantial part of that "journey" was covered toady by the official unveiling of the LT1 V8 which will power the Corvette C7 when it hits the market in late 2013.

Boasting a capacity of 6.2 liters, the first of the new Gen 5 family of Small Block engines has an output of 450HP and peak torque of 450 lb-ft (610 Nm) that help accelerate the 2014 Corvette from a standstill to 60 mph (96 km/h) in less than four seconds.

First Official Video Teaser of 2014 Corvette is Just That; a Teaser…

As we anticipated, last week's unveiling of the upcoming 2014 Corvette's newly designed emblem signaled the beginning of a long line of teasers that will culminate with the world premiere of the seventh generation model at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show in mid-January.

For the first official teaser, General Motor's marketing people created a short video that showcases some cropped bits and pieces of the next Corvette's body such as the sport car's front grille, four centrally mounted exhaust pipes (in a row), the exterior mirrors, and the rear fender.

Chevrolet Releases 2014 Corvette C7 Logo and Dedicated Website, will Debut at Detroit Show

We hope you're ready for a long list of teasers because GM has plans to build up a lot of hype leading to the official world premiere of the seventh generation of the Chevrolet Corvette at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show on Sunday evening, January 13.

Today, much like the Chrysler Group did with its SRT Viper earlier this year, General Motors released the new Crossed Flags logo for the 2014 Corvette C7 and with it, a dedicated website at www.one13thirteen.com, where it will be posting information and video content over the coming weeks.
