Infiniti Adopts New Naming Strategy, Next G Series will be Called the Q50

Out with the old, in with the new, or at least that's what Infiniti is saying about its new nomenclature.

Beginning from next year, Infiniti will use the letter "Q" for all sedan, coupe and convertible models and the letters "QX" for SUVs and crossovers, adding a double digit at the end of both to signify the series and the hierarchy within the range.

The first Infiniti model to wear the brand's new badges is the G series' successor that will be revealed in sedan trim at the Detroit auto show in mid-January, and which will be called the Q50.

Infiniti Goes to Brazil, will Launch with a New Sedan, the FX and JX in 2014

Even though Nissan originally created Infiniti in 1989 to cater to the needs of North American consumers, the Japanese brand has since rapidly expanded its global network that currently includes 47 countries around the globe.

This year alone, Infiniti added Singapore, Chile, the Dominican Republic, South Africa and Australia to the list of countries it operates within, with Hong Kong to follow in early 2013.

And that's no all, as on Saturday, Infiniti announced plans to begin sales in Brazil starting in 2014 with the opening of "Infiniti Centres" in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

Nissan and Infiniti Offer Employee Pricing and Financing to Replace Cars Damaged by Sandy

As you have no doubt seen from the news as well as the numerous videos circulating around the web, Hurricane-then-turned-into-mega storm Sandy damaged or completely destroyed a great number of cars in the northeast region of the U.S.

Nissan North America (NNA) is among the automakers eager to give a helping hand to those who suffered the devastating effects of the storm and…make a few sales out it, by offering employee pricing and discounted financing on new Nissan and Infiniti vehicles (and no, you won't get a discount on the GT-R…).

Infiniti Backs Out of Plan to have Magna Steyr Build its Mercedes-Benz-Based Compact Model

In May this year, the Nissan group announced that it had come to an agreement and signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with auto manufacturer Magna Steyr for the assembly of a new, Mercedes-Benz-based, Infiniti compact model in Austria.

Well, this is not going to happen as on Friday, the Japanese automaker issued a statement saying that, even though Infiniti is moving ahead with plans to develop the compact model with a scheduled launch in 2015 (and not in 2014, as originally stated), it won't be built by Magna Steyr, but instead, it will produce the car itself.
